Hi! My name is Kristina. I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach that loves all things health and wellness. But, I wasn’t always into fitness and nutrition like I am today. It wasn’t until I used the gym as an emotional outlet during a tough time that I became more conscious of what I was eating. Over the years, casual research on effective workouts and healthy foods turned into a complete fascination and ultimately, one of my biggest passions.
I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to navigate the conflicting theories and messages from the food and fitness industries in order to make better personal health choices. Now a certified holistic health coach, I got a lot more than I bargained for.
At IIN, we studied the traditional aspects of nutrition and exercise within a holistic context; considering all of the other factors in life that impact our health. The concept of primary and secondary foods completely changed my perspective on health and wellness.
The actual food that we eat.
What nourishes our mind and body outside of actual food, such as career, exercise, relationships, spirituality, creativity, nature, home environment and education.
The idea is that when primary food is balanced and fulfilling, your life feeds you, making what you eat — secondary.
Now that’s not to say eating healthily isn’t important. Because it’s extremely important. It’s imperative for physical functionality, longevity and okay fine, to look great at the beach. Much of what we see at the supermarkets today is processed and modified food directly contributing to the skyrocketing rates of obesity and other chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, cancer and arthritis.
By simply associating these conditions with a lack of willpower, we’re missing a huge part of the equation. A lot of our “food” has been formulated to be highly addictive; sending chemical messages throughout our bodies telling us that we need more. On top of that, if you’re struggling with a stressful job, family dynamic or financial situation, the underlying emotions and stress may be a huge cause of poor diet and fitness routines. So what does all of this mean?
As a holistic health coach, I help my clients understand and improve their primary and secondary foods in order to achieve their health goals. Together, we’ll:
Stressed? Anxious? Lack of energy? Experiencing weight gain? Having trouble sleeping? Struggling with a chronic health condition?
What does an average day of eating look like? What foods do you consider healthy or unhealthy? Where do you buy your food? Do you have cravings? What’s in your pantry?
Are there gaps in your primary foods? Are they negatively affecting you and/or contributing to poor secondary food choices? Is what you’re eating, in turn, impacting your mood or energy levels; starting the whole cycle over again?
Living a long and healthy life, preventing chronic disease, achieving a healthy weight, getting back into exercise, making a career change, eating more nutrient dense foods.
Let’s pave the path to your goals and get movin’!
Along the way, I want to equip you with the knowledge and self-awareness to make the best diet and lifestyle decisions for you, despite life’s twists and turns.
